Burger grill couldn't stop with just 1
FEW THINGS in life are better than a cold drink and a good hamburger.
Enjoy both, thanks to Ryan's Grill, new chef Robin Uyeda and "The Wide World of Burgers" promotion at the restaurant. Eight burger renditions debuted last week, and those who try them all will receive a free commemorative T-shirt (ask for a "Burger Passport" to track your progress).
According to Uyeda, who returned to Ryan's after Palomino recently went out of business, the secret to burger success is a handmade Kobe beef patty. I got to try the Steinlager Burger first ($9.95), a behemoth of a sandwich that came piled high with Portuguese sausage and onion rings and smothered with melted American cheese.
The Indian Spiced Lamb Sausage Burger ($6.95) cleverly mixed Kobe beef with lamb sausage on pita bread, reminding me of a Greek gyro. And for the more health conscious, the Japanese Ahi Tofu Burger with Wasabi Aioli ($6.95) offers a nice alternative, served slider style in portions perfect for sharing.
Other burgers on the menu, all priced at $6.95, include the "Better the Next Day" Meatloaf, Italian Meatball with Melted Mozzarella and Turkey with Cranberry Mustard Compote. Uyeda plans to add even more burgers to the lineup before the promotion wraps up at the end of the month.
