New York show includes work by former Maui artist
The artwork of Carolyn Quan, a former Maui photo collage artist, has been included in "Pixel Perfect -- the Digital Fine Art Exhibition" in the Chelsea art district of New York City. The show includes the works of 15 artists from around the world.
Quan, who opened The Quan Gallery, a co-op gallery, in Lahaina, moved to New York in 2000.
She is planning a solo exhibit in Honolulu at the rRed Elephant next month.

Dinner to benefit Bishop Museum
Morton's the Steakhouse and the Bishop Museum Archives have teamed up to present a silent auction of original historic photographs, together with a special dinner buffet, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 5 at the Ala Moana Center restaurant.
The second annual benefit dinner for the Art Restoration and Picture Gallery Fund will include works by Ray Jerome Baker, Tai Sing Loo and N.R. Farbman.
Also up for bid will be rare and out-of-print books from the Bishop Museum Press, and a dinner for six catered by a Morton's chef and maitre d'.
Selected pieces from the museum's collection of oil paintings of Hawaii will be displayed, including a Scottish landscape by Princess Kaiulani, as well as pieces in need of conservation and restoration.
All proceeds will go toward restoring these and other paintings for display in the museum's Picture Gallery, scheduled to open in the fall in the newly renovated Hawaiian Hall.
The buffet will include Shrimp Alexander, Blue Point oysters, Halibut Medallions, sliced New York sirloin, smoked salmon, sea scallops with apricot chutney and crab cakes. A dessert buffet will include Chocolate Velvet Cake, Hot Godiva Chocolate Cake and Sabayon with Berries, Key Lime Pie and cheesecake.
Cost is $175. Premium tables in Morton's private Boardroom are also available. Call 848-4157.

CanoeHouse hires chef de cuisine
The CanoeHouse, signature restaurant of the Mauna Lani Resort, has a new chef de cuisine: Dee Ann Tsurumaki.
Tsurumaki returns to Hawaii after five years as head chef at the Peninsula Hotel's Felix restaurant in Hong Kong, voted one of the Top 50 Best Restaurants in the World by the British Restaurant Magazine.
In Hawaii she was an executive chef for two of Roy Yamaguchi's restaurants, on Maui and in Honolulu. Tsurumaki began her career at the Hawaiian Regent Hotel in 1971.
3660 begins monthly special dinner series
3660 on the Rise hosts a Chef's Table dinner, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, featuring Crabmeat Croquette, Romaine-Wrapped Wild Fillet of Salmon, Grilled Duck Breast and Fire-Roasted Loin of Lamb.
Chef Russell Siu plans to host these special dinners monthly.
Cost is $75; wines will be sold at a 40 percent discount, or bring your own with no corkage fee. Call 737-1177.
