Garnier considers Hawaii and Halekulani the best
After
Yves Garnier received a prestigious award from France Thursday that brought French Consul General
Frederic Desagneaux here from San Francisco to present, the Halekulani's La Mer chef praised Hawaii and the Waikiki resort.
In a mixture of English and French, which
Andrea Kia translated, Yves said he was born in Paris and also worked in Monte Carlo for 22 years, in San Francisco and in Palm Beach but added, "Sincerely, Hawaii and the Halekulani are the best." He has been chef at La Mer for 11 years. Honolulu's honorary French Consul

UH students Matthew Ing and Alyssa Navares, editor and managing editor, respectively, of UH's Ka Leo O Hawaii, have received the Carol Burnett Award for Responsible Journalism. Buffalo Keaulana's wife,
Momi, said they met when he bumped her off a wave while surfing. Buffalo's version was that he saved her while she was surfing. His innocent and bored expressions were priceless. Other couples include
