Former poet laureate to give reading
Billy Collins, U.S. poet laureate from 2001 to 2003, will hold a free poetry reading at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 in 'Iolani School's Seto Hall.
Collins, a professor of English at Lehman College, City University of New York, will take the short-term position of Keables Chair at 'Iolani, teaching at the school next week.
Collins' books of poetry include "Nine Horses" (2002), "Sailing Alone Around the Room: New and Selected Poems" (2001), "Picnic Lightning" and "The Art of Drowning" (1998), and "Questions About Angels" (1991), winner of the National Poetry Series.
Collins also recorded 33 of his poems in "The Best Cigarette," released in 1997.
