Pooling resources to help restore a fishpond

Volunteers worked yesterday to restore the Waikalua Loko fishpond in Kaneohe. Megan Akamine, above, a member of Castle High School's Interact Club, hauled out mangrove branches that were cleared from the fishpond. Oceanography students at Windward Community College also were at the pond yesterday, taking depth measurements. Elaine Tanaka, left, Carol Jenkins, Tony Butindaro, Cassie Queja, Danielle Coulombe, Tara McCraw and teacher Floyd McCoy.
