Govs going to tournament after Hernandez scores 24
Christian Hernandez nailed four of his eight 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and Kaiser's Andrew Wingert missed two 3-pointers in the final 25 seconds that would have tied the game as Farrington shocked the Cougars 60-57 to finish in third place of the OIA White playoffs and earn the league's final berth in the Division II state tournament that begins next week.
Hernandez finished with 24 points, all of which came on threes, as Farrington made nine in the game. Wingert finished with 18 points and Jake Esteban had 15 for Kaiser which finished 12-3.
The Cougars, who played without starter Kalua Noa, who was ejected from Wednesday's semifinal game and couldn't play last night, led 43-37 heading into the final quarter before being outscored 21-14. Kaiser had beaten Farrington twice in the regular season.
Rey Bartian added 11 points and Glenn Ernest and Oscar Carter each poured in eight for the Governors.
