Friday: The Crud
Sound|House / 393-0545
The name may have changed, but the musical entertainment is still the same at Sound|House on the edge of downtown.
Formerly known as Detox, the spot lost its downstairs space in order to let a Mexican restaurant move in, but its upstairs area remains the same -- albeit with a few cosmetic changes. Local rockers The Crud, left, check in for a set on Friday, with opening acts the Malcognitas, Love Chile and the Big Island's Red Light Taxi.
Tuesday: Mardi Gras 2007
Aloha Tower Marketplace and Nuuanu Avenue / 566-2337
Celebrate Mardi Gras this year with a pair of parties that take place just blocks from each other.
Start off at Aloha Tower Marketplace, where a free celebration starts at 5 p.m. Enjoy live music on multiple stages, free beads and special food and drink prices at participating restaurants.
The fun continues at 6 p.m. on Nuuanu Avenue between Pauahi and King with the seventh annual Mardi Gras Street Festival. Live entertainment is planned on two stages, along with food vendors, free Latin dance instruction and a create-your-own mask booth. Don't forget the designated driver!
Promoters: To get listed on Crawl Space, send an e-mail to
