'Last Call' for Jake tonight
Stay up late tonight to catch local boy Jake Shimabukuro performing on national TV. The ukulele wiz will be performing on "Last Call with Carson Daly," 12:30 a.m. on KHNL/NBC. This is Shimabukuro's second national TV appearance on NBC. He was a guest on the "Late Show with Conan O'Brien" in December.

Calling fashionistas
Fashionista's Market's next designer sample sale runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Monday, Presidents' Day, at the Japanese Cultural Center.
Women's contemporary apparel -- including such premium denim brands as Frankie B, True Religion, Lucky Brand Jeans, Joe's Jeans, Parasuco, House of Dereon and more -- will be sold at up to 80 percent off retail.
Admission is $3 for FM members and $7 for the general public. JCCH members get in free.

Double the shopping
Pipe Dreams and 99 Boarding Co., two stores carrying active outdoor apparel and related accessories for men and women, have merged into one store, Pipe Dreams, at Aloha Tower Marketplace.
Jason Chang, who owns both stores, consolidated his products into a 7,200-square-foot space at the front of the Marketplace. Featured brands include Oakley, Volcom, Fighting Eel and Da Kine.
Face of East West
East West magazine, which focuses on the experiences of Asian and Middle Eastern Americans, is seeking entries for its fourth annual "Face of East West" contest. The winner will appear on the cover of the December/January issue.
"We emphasize not only beauty and style, but also the ability to effectively communicate the East West lifestyle," said Anita Malik, the magazine's founder and editor in chief.
Thirty semifinalists will be chosen by the magazine's staff to appear in the April/May issue. Beginning in mid-April, the public can vote at www.eastwestmagazine.com, narrowing the pool to five finalists to be judged by a celebrity panel.
To enter, contestants must submit one photo and an essay of no more than 200 words describing how they live the East-West life and why they are the perfect "Face of East West." Entries must be submitted before March 15 and should include the contestant's name, phone number, mailing address and e-mail address. Photos will not be returned and cannot be changed if entry is chosen as a semifinalist. All information may be published.
Entrants must be at least 18 years. Entries can be submitted via e-mail to face@eastwestmagazine.com or mailed to East West, P.O. Box 13624, Scottsdale, AZ 85267.
