POLE DANCER:
JOHN BERGER / JBERGER@STARBULLETIN.COM
Kevin De Bell tried his luck as a pole dancer Thursday after opening night of "Femme Capulet: 'Romeo and Juliet' Remixed," at the ARTS at Marks Garage. De Bell stars as Romeo in Troy Apostol's "extreme edit" of the classic Shakespeare tragedy, and yes, much of the action takes place in the "notorious" Femme Capulet strip club. CLICK FOR LARGE

ATTENTION TO DETAIL:
JOHN BERGER / JBERGER@STARBULLETIN.COM
Maui artist Kirk Kurokawa was joined Thursday by his proud mother, Jeanne Abe, at the opening of "Viewpoints," his new exhibition at the Contemporary Museum at First Hawaiian Center. Many of Kurokawa's paintings have the precision of photographs yet reflect the selective vision of a painter as well. This one, "NB," is a self-portrait. The exhibit continues through May 29.
