Flat-picking champ to teach
Mark Cosgrove, winner of the U.S. National Flatpicking Guitar Championship, will lead a workshop from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the University of Hawaii.
Guitarists comfortable with a pick and able to play three to eight basic open chords are invited to study up on both the fundamentals and advanced techniques.
Cosgrove will cover right-hand technique, the repertoire and its roots, cross picking, open-string playing, basic theory and chord substitution, among other topics.
