Sister Francine Gries, former executive director of the St. Francis Hospice, will be remembered in a funeral Mass 4 p.m. Feb. 11 at St. Francis Convent Chapel, 2715 Pamoa Road. Gries, 85, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis for 70 years, served as a nurse in Hawaii for more than 40 years. She helped found the first hospice program here and directed it for 25 years. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Hospice, or to the Sisters of St. Francis Retirement Fund, in care of St. Francis Healthcare Foundation, 2228 Liliha St., Suite 205, Honolulu 96817.
