Services to be held on Friday for Mililani grad killed in Iraq
Funeral services will be held Friday for Army Spc. Toby Richard Michael Olsen, 28, of Mililani, who died Jan. 20 in Iraq.
Services will begin 10:30 a.m. at Borthwick Mortuary. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m.
Burial with military honors will be at 11:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.
Olsen was a graduate of Mililani High School and attended the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.
An Army specialist with the 25th Infantry Division, he was one of four soldiers killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near their Army Humvee in Karma in Al Anbar province. He was a member of the 3rd Battalion, 509 Infantry (Airborne) Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Richardson, Alaska. He was born in Germany.
He is survived by his parents, Army Col. James M. and Elisabeth K. Olsen of Heidelberg, Germany; brother Michael of Mililani; sister Tanya of Heidelberg; and grandparents John and Hiroko Olsen of Wahiawa, and George and Hedy Tiedemann of Casino, New South Wales, Australia. Also surviving are an aunt, uncles and cousins.
The family suggests that aloha attire be worn.
