Sunday will be day for anime at Suncoast
Anime fans know that one of the best ways to celebrate their obsession is to run out and buy even more anime.
To that end, Suncoast stores at Pearlridge and Windward Mall are hosting anime celebrations on Sunday, with a bunch of special promotions and events planned. To wit:
» Continuing sales going on now at the stores, all anime released by Geneon are "buy one, get one free," and anime wall scrolls are two for $30.
» All anime released by other studios will be "buy one, get one for 50 percent off."
» DVDs scheduled for release on the 30th -- among them the latest volumes of "Bleach," "Naruto" and "Hikaru no Go" -- will be available for sale two days early.
Not up for spending money? Dress up as your favorite anime or manga character and enter the cosplay (costume) contest at 3 p.m., or test your anime knowledge in a trivia contest. Prizes will be awarded, and assorted giveaways also will take place throughout the day.
Oh, and here's a quick shout-out to the crew at the Pearlridge Suncoast, who have helped me reserve upcoming anime for the past few years. Keep up the good work, guys ...
Convention cost rising
For those of you who wait until the last minute to do things, take note: A message posted on the Kawaii Kon home page notes that prices for a three-day pass will be going up on Friday. The cost for the local anime convention's three-day adult pass until then is $35. For more information, visit kawaii-kon.org

Will anything get our coveted five-star rating? Probably not -- we're pretty tough judges -- but check out the Sunday Today section to see for sure ...
