Silverswords fall to Grand Canyon

Chaminade closed a three-game road trip with an 86-72 basketball loss to Grand Canyon in Phoenix yesterday, despite a 30-point, 10-assist performance by Silverswords guard Zack Whiting.

Forward Marko Kolaric added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Chaminade, which fell to 12-7 overall and 4-3 in Pacific West Conference play.

» Marian Murphy scored 13 points and added 13 rebounds in Chaminade's 77-61 women's basketball loss to Grand Canyon yesterday. Brittnee Fonnesbeck led the Silverswords (2-14) with 15 points.

Rainbow Wahine water polo tops alumnae

Kelly Mason scored four goals to lead the University of Hawaii water polo team to a 17-13 win in yesterday's alumnae match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.

Amy Logan added three goals for the Rainbow Wahine, and Kristin Swanson, Brittany Dames and Megan O'Linn scored two each. Eko Lapp led the alumnae with five goals.

The Rainbow Wahine open the season Feb. 1 with a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at San Jose State.

UH coaches on Quarterback Club agenda

Three University of Hawaii coaches are among the scheduled speakers at tomorrow's meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club at the Pagoda Hotel's main ballroom.

Mike Wilton (men's volleyball), Mike Trapasso (baseball) and Bob Coolen (softball) headline the agenda along with former All-American swimmer June Ford.

Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m., with the program set to begin at noon.
