Make your bags, gang
Children are invited to make storyteller bags Saturday as part of a Winter Story Celebration at Native Winds Gift Gallery & Craft Supply.
A craft class from 10:30 a.m. to noon will center on a tradition practiced by the Lenni Lenape native people of the East Coast. Children will use fabric, needle, thread, paints and deerskin lace to make bags that a storyteller would use to hold items to help illustrate their tales. Children under age 10 will need parental supervision. Cost is $20; pre-registration required.
The Winter Story Celebration continues at 11 a.m. Jan. 27 with an appearance by Chuna McIntyre, a Yup'ik Eskimo storyteller, artist, musician and dancer.
