Hawaii-Hilo women fall to Dixie State College
The University of Hawaii-Hilo women's basketball team lost to Dixie State College, 68-49, yesterday at the Kilauea Recreational Center.
Krystlelyn Omlan scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and Sheila Azevedo had 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Vulcans (2-9). UHH shot 32.1 percent from the field.
The Vulcans led 23-22 on Ashley Kualii's two free throws, but DSC (9-7) went on a 10-3 run to close the first half and took a 32-26 halftime lead.
Dixie's Tiara Bowman scored 31 in the victory, and Jessica Carver added 15.
Hawaii baseball holds celebration Jan. 15
The University of Hawaii baseball team holds its Grand Slam Celebration fundraiser Jan. 15, one week from today, at the Stan Sheriff Center.
This corrects an item in yesterday's Star-Bulletin incorrectly reporting the event being today.
The event, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., features live and silent auction items, music by Imua, and pupu, wine and beer tasting.
Tickets are $75 for individuals and $850 for tables. Each ticket purchased earns two tickets to the Georgia Southern game on Feb. 2.
