WARRIOR FOOTBALL
Warriors will face EWU on Sept. 8
The date and place are agreed upon. Now all Hawaii and Eastern Washington need is a signed contract, and they'll have a football game Sept. 8 at Aloha Stadium.
EWU athletic director Darren Hamilton confirmed the major details, and told the Star-Bulletin a few minor ones remain before a contract is signed by him and UH athletic director Herman Frazier.
Hawaii (11-3 in 2006) and Division I-AA Eastern Washington (3-8) have never played. The Warriors are 5-2 against I-AA teams in June Jones' eight seasons as coach.
Hawaii athletic director Herman Frazier has said UH would play one Division I-AA team in 2007. With the addition of EWU, three nonconference games remain to be scheduled. USC is a possibility if it can get out of its Sept. 1 game against Idaho.
Hamilton is no stranger to Aloha Stadium. He played on the Penn State team that beat Washington 13-10 in the 1983 Aloha Bowl.
