Bead show arrives
Honolulu is the first stop of the new year for "The Whole Bead Show," a traveling trade show for beads, jewelry, buttons and more, offered by more than 20 vendors.
Blaisdell Center will be transformed into a jewelry maker's paradise 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The show is open to the public and wholesale buyers who bring a valid resale license. Admission is free. No pre-registration is required or offered.
Back to nature
People who want to take an interactive approach to wellness and sustainable living in 2007 can check out an event from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Waimea Valley Audubon Center.
Experience massage, yoga, aromatherapy, facials and foot scrubs and a shampoo-making demonstration, along with music, dance, local cuisine, arts and crafts.
Bring a swimsuit for a dip in the waterfall. Admission is $5 before 6 p.m. and $12 after, including a free five-minute massage. Call 637-2117.
Artists sought
C.O. Bigelow is welcoming artists to become a part of the apothecary's history. The company has teamed with Gen Art -- an organization that showcases young, emerging artists and entertainers -- to sponsor a package design competition.
One grand-prize winner will have his or her original design emblazoned upon a limited-edition C.O. Bigelow apothecary jar to be sold at select C.O. Bigelow and Bath & Body Works stores nationwide.
Designs should reflect C.O. Bigelow's credo: "Honest. Genuine. Trustworthy." All entries should reflect this mantra and show what these three words mean to you. Designs must also use C.O. Bigelow's signature black-and-white design and consist of a painting, sketch, collage of photos, or digital art.
The contest ends on Jan. 15. Three finalists will win a one-year complimentary Gen Art membership and a one-year supply of select C.O. Bigelow products.
Entry forms and official rules can be found at genart.org. There is a $15 entry fee.
