Iolani still has at least 1 coach’s respect

The lone dissenter in today's Star-Bulletin Boys Basketball Top 10 explained his reasoning.

"I know Punahou has had a better preseason, but until they beat the champs, I still have to put Iolani at No. 1," University High coach Walt Quitan said. The other 16 voters gave their top vote to Punahou. Quitan, whose Junior Rainbows are off to a 9-1 start, are one of the favorites in ILH Division II play.

Division I Maryknoll, which is 11-5, got a vote on Quitan's ballot.

"I'm impressed with what they've done. The ILH looks like it'll be tough as ever," he said.
