Portable classroom is damaged in blaze
Police and fire officials are investigating a possible arson case at Kalakaua Middle School.
At about 9:48 p.m. Friday, police and fire teams were dispatched to the school to extinguish a fire that began under a crawl space under a disabilities access ramp of a portable classroom.
The fire was extinguished shortly after. However, the damage to the exterior of the building was estimated to be at about $25,000.

Taxi driver is robbed and left unconscious
A 47-year-old taxi driver was found early yesterday morning beaten, robbed and unconscious in Waikiki, police said.
Police found the man at about 2:15 a.m.. The man was unconscious when officers arrived. When he awoke, he found that his keys, money and van were stolen.
Police said the victim stopped by the park to use a public restroom when he was beaten and robbed. He was unable to recall how and when he became injured, and could not provide any details or suspect description.
Man's body is found floating offshore
The body of a man in his late 30s or early 40s was found floating in Kapahulu Groin in Waikiki yesterday at about 5:15 in the morning.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, said Honolulu Emergency Services Department spokesman Bryan Cheplic.
Police said no foul play is suspected in the death.
An autopsy will be performed on the victim, Cheplic said.

Coast Guard rescues grounded fishermen
Two fishermen who ran their vessel aground were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard Friday night.
The distress call came at about 7:15 p.m. after the two fishermen aboard the Wahine Kapaloa IV ran aground off the southern tip of Niihau, according to the Coast Guard.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew arrived on the scene. The vessel had sunk, but the crew spotted handheld lights on the shoreline of the island, where they found the two fishermen. The two men were airlifted to safety, and found there were no injuries. The boat was home-ported on Kauai.
The boat was equipped with an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon, which helped officials located the vessel.

Man, 37, found dead off White Plains Beach
A 37-year-old man was found dead in the water near White Plains Beach in Kalaeloa yesterday afternoon, said Bryan Cheplic, a spokesman for the Honolulu Emergency Services Department.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead about 3:30 p.m., said Bryan Cheplic of the Honolulu Emergency Services.
The man's cause of death had not been determined.
Man caught allegedly taking copper wire
A 46-year-old man who allegedly attempted to steal copper wire from a pump house in Waianae was arrested yesterday on suspicion of second-degree burglary.
Police said a 65-year-old man reported that he found the pump house door open and saw a coil of copper wire and wire cutters on the ground. He confronted and identified the man to police, who arrested him at 9:15 a.m. without incident.
