DVD RELEASE
Buy 'em, 'Five-O' fans!
The immortal phrase of "Book 'em, Danno!" will echo through the homes of fans of "Hawaii Five-O" when the first season of the hit cop series finally gets the DVD treatment early next year.
Scheduled for release on March 6 from Paramount Home Video, the box set will include not only all 24 episodes from the '68 season, on seven discs, but also the original movie-length pilot ("Cocoon"), a 45-minute retrospective from Danno himself (actor James MacArthur), interviews with cast and crew and footage from a 1996 reunion special. "Hawaii Five-O" was one of the longest-running TV cop shows, airing on CBS through 1980, and remains popular in syndication.
And how could we forget that great, Emmy Award-winning opening montage, pushed along by Morton Stevens' brash and driving instrumental (later popularized by the great surf band the Ventures)?

That it was filmed entirely on Oahu didn't hurt tourist numbers either, as visitors would search in vain for Steve McGarrett's office in Iolani Palace.
Created by Leonard Freeman, "Five-O" starred Jack Lord and MacArthur, with a supporting cast featuring local actors Kam Fong (Chin Ho Kelly), Zulu (Kono Kalakaua), Al Harrington (Ben Kokua) and Herman Wedemeyer (Duke Lukela) as members of the fictional elite police team.
"Hawaii Five-O: The First Season," with a retail price of $49.98, may be pre-ordered from online retailers such as Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, dvdempire.com, TFAW.com (Things from Another World) and Target.com.
