MEDAL-WINNING OPERATION

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services honored five organizations yesterday for their roles in Hawaii's first-ever lung recovery for a transplant. In the operation in June, an organ donor's lungs in Hawaii were transported to a patient in California in nine hours. Dr. Sarice Bassin, a neurointensivist at the Queen's Medical Center, held up a medal awarded by the agency. Also honored were the Organ Donor Center of Hawaii, the Honolulu Police Department, United Airlines and the Transportation Security Administration. CLICK FOR LARGE
