Party at Ritz-Carlton

More than 250,000 holiday lights will be on view at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, courtyard throughout the season, welcoming guests to take part in festivities such as a Teddy Bear Tea taking place 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Maui resort's library.

During the event, children and their "beary" best friends are invited to celebrate the season with an afternoon of storytelling, games and refreshments with kid-friendly items such as fun-shaped peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches and hot chocolate "tea." The cost is $20 per child and $25 per adult, including tax and gratuity.

Other events include a Christmas Eve lu'au and Polynesian revue 5 to 8 p.m. on the Beach House Lawn. The cost is $105 per adult; $50 per child (4 to 12); including tax and gratuity; plus Christmas Eve dinner in The Banyan Tree and a Christmas Day buffet in The Terrace restaurant.

Call (808) 669-6200. Reservations and credit card guarantees are required for all events.

A foodie's delight

The Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa on Oahu is cooking up a delectable package for 2007, in conjunction with the Food Network.

Those staying one or more nights will receive one four-course menu for two at Bali by the Sea, and a canvas tote bag containing Food Network gifts, including the network's cookbook, "How to Boil Water."

The Food Network Package menu consists of "A Taste of Hawaii" appetizer, salad featuring chilled shrimp, Manoa and butter lettuce hearts with avocado, Kamiya papaya and poached shrimp with Bali champagne dressing; an entree of sauteed opakapaka and petite black angus filet mignon. Dessert is a "grande finale sampler" featuring Hawaiian vanilla bean creme brulee, chocolate tower with raspberry coulis with macadamia nut ice cream and seasonal berries. Each course, except dessert, will be paired with wine.

The package starts at $459 for a one-night stay with dinner (inclusive of tax and gratuity). Additional nights without the dinner can be purchased starting at $229 per night, plus tax. Call (800) HILTONS or (800) 445-9667 for reservations; ask for rate code "FN." Guests are advised to make dinner reservations 10 days prior to arrival. The package is available through March 31.

ENTER TO WIN!
Hawaiian-style Barbie makes a gift of aloha

Just in time for the holidays, we want to share a bit of aloha by offering two readers an opportunity to win a Hula Honey Barbie doll, in conjunction with Mattel.

The doll could send a bit of sunshine to friends in cold climates. She wears a vintage-inspired swimsuit, grass skirt and faux coconut shell bikini top. Ukulele and flower leis complete her retro ensemble.

All you have to do to win is to answer a few questions about our travel features and mail your entry back to us. All who get the correct answers will be placed in a drawing for the two dolls. But you have to act fast. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Dec. 11, so we can get the dolls shipped out before Christmas.

See the Sunday Star-Bulletin newspaper's Travel section for an entry form.

Good luck!
