Secrets to Success

Consistency trumps frequency

POSTING frequency is one of the biggest, most frequent, stumbling blocks we hear about from business people who are using a business blog as their starting point when stepping into the new-media marketplace. Many blog evangelists advocate posting several times a week, and some even preach creating new posts daily or multiple times a day.

Hearing this type of advice, most utilitarian (and very busy) business people turn away in disappointment, thinking that they can't join in and benefit from marketing with the new media.

But nothing could be further from the truth. If you have ever wondered if blogging for your business would be worth it if you can't find the time to personally blog five or six times per week -- there's good news -- you don't have to!

A regular posting schedule with a consistent/reliable frequency of at least once or twice per week is all you need to satisfy both the average prospect/customer you are looking for and the search-engine spiders. This is especially true when you apply the advanced SEO (search engine optimization) strategies that you can find if you visit www.advancedbusinessblogging.com/bloginteractive360.

Of course, you can bump up your frequency to accelerate results and, for initial momentum, that is often a good strategy. That gives you a rapid rise in search-engine rankings and the accompanying increase in traffic. But in most niches, you don't need to maintain a massive barrage of fresh content on an ongoing basis. Keep in mind that you are looking for a different type of traffic than that of professional bloggers.

Also, remember that you don't have to create all the content yourself. And whether you create the content yourself, delegate, or outsource content creation, there are little-known software tools that help manage automated content creation and posting for your blog.

NOW, when I say "software," please don't think I'm talking about blog-and-ping type junk or blog spam software that violate the 3Ps of the new-media marketplace -- People, Participation, and Persuasion. I'm talking about real blog-posting management software that dramatically accelerates content creation and automates the posting of legitimate content to your blog on the schedule you set, whether you're there or not. These are the types of tools that further help busy business owners harness the marketing power of blogs without taking time away form your busy schedule.

Your consistency will gather the types of subscribers that matter most to your business. The frequency promoted by blogging evangelists actually attracts a completely different type of subscriber -- the type you don't want or need.
