Friday: "Makana CD Release Party"

Local singer/songwriter and slack key guitarist Makana, left, steps into the future with the release of his latest album, "Different Game."

While CDs will be available at gigs, fans will only be able to purchase the new music online at iTunes.com. "Different Game" is Makana's fourth full-length release. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Friday and Saturday: "Surf Roots 2 CD Release Party"

Despite having no local bands on the compilation, two CD release parties for "Surf Roots 2" are planned on Oahu this weekend.

The first party takes place at Lulu's on Friday, followed by a second at Haleiwa Joe's on Saturday. Both nights will feature a live performance by reggae artist Sashamon.
