Rainbow Wahine inch up to No. 11
Hawaii moved up one spot to No. 11 in the CSTV/AVCA Division I volleyball poll released yesterday.
The Rainbow Wahine (28-5), coming off a victory over Long Beach State on Saturday in the NCAA tournament second round, plays against USC in the Honolulu Regional on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
On Saturday at 6:30 p.m., the UH-USC winner plays against the winner of Friday's 4:30 p.m. game between Oklahoma and UCLA for a berth in the final four in Omaha, Neb.
Seawolves trip Seasiders in Anchorage
Rebecca Kielpinski scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Alaska-Anchorage to an 80-60 victory over Brigham Young-Hawaii last night in Anchorage.
The Seawolves (7-0) also got 11 points each from Jennifer Salazar and Tristan Burnett.
Lesina Funaki scored 17 points for the Seasiders (1-5), and Latoya Wily added 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Azinger to speak at Aloha Section conference
Professional golfer Paul Azinger is one of the guest speakers at the Aloha Section PGA golf conference on Jan. 9, 2007, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki.
Azinger won the 1993 PGA Championship and the Sony Open in 2000. The cost is $30 for the conference. The deadline to register is Jan. 4.
