Workshops offer information on Medicare drug program
Medicare beneficiaries may get information and help signing up for Part D prescription drug plans at a series of education events scheduled this week by the Medicare Rx Access Network of Hawaii.
Social Security Administration representatives also will be present to answer questions and help participants.
Dec. 31 is the deadline for Medicare beneficiaries to sign up for the drug program for the first time or change plans. The next enrollment period won't start until Nov. 15 next year.
People are encouraged to review the plans and choose one by Friday so they can start getting benefits when coverage begins Jan. 1.
Officials point out new plans are available and benefits have changed, so residents have more choices.
