Volleyball regional tickets on sale
Tickets for this week's Honolulu Regional of the NCAA women's volleyball tournament, featuring Hawaii, USC, UCLA and Oklahoma, are on sale through the University of Hawaii ticket office.
The two-night package is $36 for lower-level seats, $30 for upper-level seats. Individual session tickets won't be available until Friday.
Tickets can be purchased at the Stan Sheriff Center box office; online at www.HawaiiAthletics.com or by phone at 944-2697.
The winners of Friday's opening matches meet at 6:30 p.m. Saturday for a berth in next week's final four in Omaha, Neb.
Paniolos lose in Pop Warner nationals
The Manoa Paniolos lost to the Union Rd. (N.C.) Jaguars 42-12 in the Jr. Pee Wee first round in the Pop Warner Super Bowl yesterday at Orlando, Fla.
The Paniolos play the Worcester Vikings in a consolation game on Wednesday.
Whiting leads Silverswords with triple-double
Zack Whiting had a triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists to lead Chaminade past Holy Names (Calif.) 91-76 in Division II men's basketball at McCabe Gym yesterday.
Marko Kolaric had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Silverswords, who dropped to 3-3.
» The Chaminade women's team outscored Hawaii Pacific 16-12 in overtime to win 83-79 yesterday at McCabe Gym.
Brittnee Fonnesbeck scored 31 points and added 13 rebounds to lead the Silverswords (1-3).
UH ties for seventh at Texas Invitational
The University of Hawaii men's swimming and diving team finished in seventh place at the Texas Invitational yesterday in Austin, Tex.
Grzegorz Mroz was the Rainbow Warriors' top finisher, taking eighth in the 1,650 freestyle.
» The Rainbow Wahine women's swimming and diving team took 10th at the Texas Invitational.
Claudia Barsi was UH's highest finisher, placing fourth in the 1,650 freestyle.
