Shower program for homeless vets restarts at Tripler
Question: I am a homeless veteran and used to be able to get a shower at the VA before that practice was stopped. Has that service started up again?
Answer: The homeless veteran shower program has resumed at the VA at the E-Wing, on the ocean side of the Tripler Army Medical Center, on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Contact Allan Kellogg in room 1C101 on the first floor.
Q: Does the VA reimburse veterans who take the CLEP tests?
A: Veterans can get reimbursed for College-Level Examination Program testing fees. The VA has set up the process to reimburse veterans for both the examination and test-center administration fees.
CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses.
There are 2,900 colleges that grant credit and/or advance standing for CLEP examinations.
CLEP examinations cost about $60 each. For more information on the GI Bill or how to get reimbursed for taking CLEP examinations, go to www.gibill.va.gov and scroll down to "New Program Reimbursing Fees for National Testing."
To inquire on the status of a claim for GI Bill reimbursement, call 1-888-422-4551 or contact the VA at 1-800-827-1000.
If you have questions about your benefits as a veteran, call Fred Ballard at the Veterans Affairs at 433-0049 or visit the VA Web site at
