Pat and Jack will dance again at Hilton's Pearl Harbor party

HISTORY WILL repeat itself at the Pearl Harbor 65th anniversary gala Tuesday at the Hilton Village, at least for Pat Thompson and Jack Evans. On the night of Dec. 6, 1941, 10-year-old Pat, a dance student, sat in front of the swing band in the Pacific Fleet's Battle of Music competition at Pearl Harbor's Bloch Arena. The emcee asked, "Who wants to dance with this little girl? She can dance." Jack, 17, a sailor serving on the USS California, said he would dance with her. They jitterbugged to victory in the contest. But they never got each other's name. She always wondered what happened to the sailor. So in 1999 she wrote a story in the Pearl Harbor survivors' newsletter asking for info about him. The story reached Jack and he called her. He lived just 15 miles from her San Diego home for the past 40 years. Pat, now 75, and Jack, 82, will dance again at the gala. Jim Nabors, Jimmy Borges, Cathy Foy and Pilialoha Gaison will entertain. Tickets are $250 and benefit the Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund. Call (866) dec-1941 ...

The Brothers Cazimero, Robert and Roland, sing Christmas carols on the soundtrack of "The Very First Noel," an animated special, now running on DirecTV, Channel 103, through Dec. 31 ... Melveen Leed and Rodney Cazimero, a brother of the Brothers, will do a Christmas show at 7 p.m. Dec. 23 in Hawi on the Big Isle at the Kohala Cultural Center. Proceeds will go to the Earthquake Relief Fund. That's nice. Hawi is Rodney's hometown. Call (808) 884-5000 for info ...

Anita and Annamarie are Hawaii's stars

Anita Hall and Annamarie Love tied for this year's "Hawaii Stars" crown on Sunday's show on KHON. Anita has long been at the top rank of Hawaii's vocalists. Support came from her 15-year-old twin sons, Matthew and Joshua. Matt had "Anita" shaved on his head and Joshua had "Hall" on his. Winning was also a big present for Anita, as yesterday was her birthday. Anna's band is Annamarie and the Elements. She was formerly with the Krush. Matt Catingub, Al Masini, Tony Ruivivar, Jon de Mello and Honolulu-based SOS members were judges ... Chuck Furuya and the team at Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas will have much good wine flowing tonight for the "Let's Taste Wine" event, with visiting winemakers and food stations, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., $100 ...
