Hawaiian soars
Hawaiian Airlines' parent company returned to the top of the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin stock index this week.
Hawaiian Holdings Inc.'s stock closed the shortened holiday week at $5.10, up 5.15 percent. It is the index's strongest issue this year, with a year-to-date gain of nearly 28 percent.
Behind Hawaiian this week was ML Macadamia Orchards LP, up 2.8 percent to close at $6.15. ML Macadamia is showing a 6 percent gain year to date, placing it second in the index for that time frame as well.
The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
