BYUH's Peters named all-American
Brigham Young-Hawaii junior outside hitter Michelle (Tuli) Peters was named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II all-America first team yesterday.
Peters averaged 5.56 kills and 3.89 digs per game for the Seasiders, who went 20-1 this season.
» Moanalua High senior Brianna Amian has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for San Jose State next season.
The 5-foot-10 Amian helped Na Menehune to a third-place finish at last week's Division I state championship tournament.
Chaminade creates Will Pounds Scholarship
Chaminade announced the creation of the Will Pounds Memorial Scholarship for Student Athletes, the school's first endowed athletic-based scholarship.
Yvette Pounds, the wife of the late Silverswords basketball standout, initiated the scholarship. Will Pound's No. 50 will be retired at halftime of the Silverswords' game against UCLA in the EA Sports Maui Invitational on Monday.

Takahiro Donoue drove in a pair of runs and Darren Ford hit a home run as the North Shore beat the West Oahu 7-4 in Hawaii Winter Baseball last night at Hans L'Orange field.
Yusuke Kawasaki earned the win for the Honu with three scoreless innings in relief of Terufume Mishima.
» Hisashi Kawata had a home run and Hideki Asai earned his second win of the season as the Sharks beat the BeachBoys 2-1 at Les Murakami Stadium.
