Choy Foo homers to lead Honu past Sharks

Kailua product Rodney Choy Foo hit his fourth home run of the Hawaii Winter Baseball League season yesterday as the North Shore Honu got a 4-1 win over the Honolulu Sharks.

Yoshiyuki Kamei and Clint Sammons both went 2-for-3 for the Sharks.

» Chris Nelson hit a two-run homer and Ian Desmond drove in two runs to lead the Waikiki BeachBoys to a 5-2 victory over the West Oahu CaneFires yesterday at Hans L'Orange Field.

Reliever Alex Hinshaw was the winning pitcher and Andrew Johnston picked up the save.

Will Venable and Makoto Moriyama each had a single and a double for the CaneFires.

Hawaii coed sailors third in California

The Hawaii coed sailing team ended its fall season with a third-place finish in the North/South Intersectional hosted by UC Santa Barbara.

UH placed third with 138 points, behind winner Stanford (123) and second-place USC (128).

Hawaii's Mark Spector finished second in the C division races.
