Guest returns, 2 more added to Kawaii Kon
Another week, another round of developments at Kawaii Kon, Hawaii's annual anime convention.
At the convention's meet-and-greet session at Kakaako Waterfront Park on Saturday, convention officials revealed that three new guests will be joining the eight already announced for next year's event.
In a move that will certainly please the dozens of screaming fangirls who surrounded him at this year's convention, voice actor Vic Mignogna will be making a return appearance. Mignogna is best known as the voice of Edward Elric in "Fullmetal Alchemist" and Dark in "D.N. Angel," as well as for his large collection of "Star Wars" lightsabers.
But Mignogna's appearance won't be the only treat for "Fullmetal" fans. Making his debut at the convention will be voice actor Travis Willingham, the voice of Col. Roy Mustang in the same series. This will virtually assure that the weekend will feature at least one fan request for the two actors to re-enact at least one of their favorite scenes together. And, of course, there will be much high-pitched screaming.
Finally, for fans whose tastes run more toward the old school, there's voice actor Chris R. Sabat, who pulled double-duty screaming stints as the voice of Piccolo and Vegeta in the "Dragon Ball" franchise, as well as Daisuke Jigen for the various "Lupin the 3rd" incarnations.
Kawaii Kon will be held April 27-29 at the Hawai'i Convention Center; for more information on previously announced guests or to register (three-day passes are currently $35 for adults), visit www.kawaii-kon.org ...
