Reality show ‘Island Fever’ is set for 2007 MTV debut
Cast members of "Island Fever," a new MTV reality show set on Maui, gathered at Lahaina's Outrigger Aina Nalu Hotel last week to announce the end of filming and the beginning of the inevitable wait for post-production work to be completed -- and possible worldwide fame when the finished product is rolled out.
"Island Fever" shot eight half-hour episodes over three months. The series highlights a group of 20-something "friends and lovers" dealing with the joys and pitfalls of being young and gorgeous while working and living in Lahaina. It is scheduled to air in the first quarter of 2007.
Producers have said they want to give each episode a sense of place and incorporate the feel and culture of the island almost as a character on the show.
The process began last June, when producers traveled to Maui to create a pilot episode for "Island Fever" and another reality show, "Living Lahaina." Both received "green light" status in early August.
