Beat holiday rush at Iolani Sportswear

Why wait for Black Friday to start your Christmas shopping, when there's a way to beat the post-Turkey Day lines?

Iolani Sportswear is making it possible to pick up something for the whole extended family through a factory sale this weekend. More than 2,000 garments from Iolani, Young Hawaii and more will be available, including dresses, tops, pants, skirts and aloha shirts.

The event will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 1234 Kona St., between Piikoi and Pensacola streets and above Side Street Inn.

Only cash and credit cards will be accepted.

Fashionista's Market moves to new venue

Fashionista's Market returns this weekend with a bigger venue at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, 2454 S. Beretania St.

The quarterly sample sale, this month focusing on denim, takes place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and if you're not the type to plan ahead, don't worry, this time you don't have to RSVP to get in.

Clothing from 40 designers will be offered at up to 80 percent off retail. Among brands to be featured are Frankie B, True Religion, Chip & Pepper, Parasuco, J & Company, Ed Hardy, Lucky Brand Jeans, Free People, Sweetees.

Get a jump on holiday shopping while picking up designer jeans, with a variety of styles, washes and embellishments, from $99.

Admission is $7; FM members pay $3.

Some ground rules: Only cash and credit cards will be accepted. Dressing rooms are communal, so make sure you wear your best undies. No handbags allowed, except for nightclub-size bags.

Learn Ayurvedic approach to skin care

Aloha Ayurveda Academy will host a "Beauty From Within" Ayurvedic Skin Care Workshop, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Pan Pacific Center, 1835 Vancouver Drive.

Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine from India that promotes balance of mind, body, soul and nature.

The workshop will include a skin questionnaire; examination of "vata," "pitta" and "kapha" skin types; Ayurvedic facials with fruits and herbs; yogic and facial exercises, stress management and detoxification.

The course is offered by Dr. Manisha Kshirsagar of the Kauai Center for Holistic Medicine. Cost is $135; seating is limited. For reservations, call Amy Kogut, 734-1308 or 271-5168.

Get pampered at Aveda Happening

Aveda Salon & Spa at Ala Moana Center will present its annual Aveda Holiday Happening from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

For $50, guests will be able to enjoy organic pupus and refreshments, and choose one of three experiences:

» Refreshing: A facial, and hand and arm massage.

» Hair spa: A hair spa treatment and foot bath.

» Glam: Hairstyling or updo and makeup session.

Guests will be able to preview Aveda's Holiday 2006 gift sets and receive a gift set valued at $50.
