Kauai historical society plans barbecue
The Kauai Historical Society is holding the first 'Aha 'Aina steak barbecue and beachside concert at Lydgate Park Nov. 10, in celebration of Veterans' Day. Join the local-style festivities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with entertainment all day and food served from noon to 3 p.m.
Performers include Lady Ipo and Kalani Flores, Darryl Gonzales with Koko Kanealii, Samson Mahuiki and Ohana, the Pa Hale with Kalani and Momi Kaiminaauao and Uncle Harry Ka'aumoana, and the Ladies of Ka Waikahe Lani Malie.
Feast on kiawe-grilled 11-ounce top sirloin steak, potato salad, fresh greens, rice, dessert and bottled water. Bring your favorite beverages.
Tickets are $25 at the society and ticket outlets islandwide. Call (808) 245-3373.
Proceeds will benefit the society's mission to collect, preserve and share the unique history of Kauai and Niihau.
