A screening committee for the state Probate Court has recommended the appointment of Honolulu lawyer Allen K. Hoe, First Hawaiian Bank Senior Vice President Corbett A.K. Kalama and former city Budget Director Ivan M. Lui-Kwan as candidates for one position as trustee for the Kamehameha Schools.

Kalama headed a community working group that advised U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka on the unsuccessful bill for his federal recognition bill for Hawaiians.

Hoe's son, 1st Lt. Nainoa Hoe, was killed in Iraq in January 2005.

The public is invited to provide comments for the candidates before 4 p.m. Dec. 1 to the Trustee Screening Committee c/o Inkinen & Associates, 1001 Bishop St., Pauahi Tower, Suite 477, Honolulu, HI 96813.

All comments will be submitted to the Probate court.
