Sharks beat CaneFires on Morgan's triple

Nyjer Morgan hit a tie-breaking two-run triple in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Honolulu Sharks to a 4-2 win over the West Oahu CaneFires in a Hawaii Winter Baseball game yesterday at Les Murakami Stadium.

David Haehnel pitched a scoreless ninth for the save. Bruce Gallaway, who went one inning in the top of the eighth and didn't give up a hit or a run, earned the win.

John Whittleman hit a two-out solo homer in the second inning for the CaneFires.

» Darren Ford's two-run double keyed a five-run second inning as the North Shore Honu edged the Waikiki Beach Boys 5-3 at Hans L'Orange Field.

Honu starter Scott Koerber went five innings and gave up two runs and four hits in the victory.

Tomoaki Egawa went 2-for-3 for the Beach Boys.
