HALLOWEEN HAPPENING
Treats gone to the dogs

You'll be known as the best neighbor on the block if trick-or-treaters come calling with Rover in tow and you've got these on hand for their favorite pooch -- healthy doggie bisquits in the shape of ghoulish ghosts, jack-o-lanterns, bats and more, baked daily at Hawaii Doggie Bakery & Gift Shop at Ward Warehouse.

The treats are pet safe, made without sugar, butter, salt or preservatives. They'll be available through Halloween.

Or get them during the Canine Costume Contest at Ward's Ampitheatre, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Registration for the contest begins at 10 a.m. Call 521-7297.

Halloween tradition helps needy kids

If you're a bit old for trick-or-treating, you can still make an evening of Halloween -- try going out to collect, not candy, but donations for the United Nations Children's Fund.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF collection boxes may be picked up at various locations, along with fliers, posters, fact sheets, stickers and fundraising ideas. For information e-mail Christopher Matar, UNICEF Student Ambassador, at christophermatar@gmail.com, or call 728-6003.

Boxes can be delivered to schools or companies. Indicate the number you'll need.

If you'd just like to give some cash, donations are being accepted at the following locations through Nov. 15:

» Marsha Nadalin Salon & Spa at Kahala Mall.
» Honolulu Waldorf High School in Kahala.
» Hawaii chapter of the United Nations Association at Honolulu Hale.
