Aqua Waikiki Wave has opened and is offering a "Get Acquainted" special room rate through Nov. 20.

Aqua Waikiki Wave celebrates with discounts

The $7 million transformation of the Aqua Waikiki Wave is complete, and visitors are invited to enjoy its mix of 78 of family, junior and honeymoon suites, appointed with such amenities as ultra-plush mattresses, marble-top vanities, flat-screened TVs, DVD, free WIFI and, in the AquaKIT, a microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator.

A "Get Acquainted" special is available through Nov. 20, with a Superior Wave room discounted to $106 per night and an AlohaSuite Partial Ocean Wave room at $174 per night, plus taxes.

Rates in 2007 will range from $200 for a Superior Wave room to $310 for an AlohaSuite Partial Ocean Wave room.

The new lobby entrance is in white marble with artwork featuring Hawaii icon Duke Kahanamoku riding a "Waikiki Wave," painted in the 1920s by famed artist Charles W. Bartlett, whose work also adorns all the guest rooms.

Complimentary continental breakfast is served daily in the lobby, which also has a business center and, to be completed in early 2007, a fitness center and the AquaSPA.

For reservations, call 866-406-2782, toll free, or visit aquaresorts.com for more information.

Aqua Hotels also recently added the Island Colony to its hotel portfolio, its fifth addition this year, making Aqua the fastest-growing Waikiki hotel chain. The Island Colony is a 740-room property located at 445 Seaside Ave.

See Tiger Woods at Grand Slam on Kauai

Tickets are available for the 2006 PGA Grand Slam of Golf, taking place at Poipu Bay Golf Course on Kauai Nov. 20-22 and featuring U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, British Open and PGA Championship winner Tiger Woods and alternates Jim Furyk and Mike Weir, the first and third top finishers on the 2006 Major Champions Points List, all vying for a $1.25 million purse.

The PGA of America offers discounts for Hawaii residents who buy a Season Grounds Ticket before Nov. 1. The regular price is $40 for the pass, which includes a ticket for each day of the event, but early-bird kamaaina can pay half that.

Also available for the first time are limited-edition commemorative lenticular tickets, featuring an image of the major champions in action. The Commemorative Season Grounds Ticket comes in a protective sleeve on a lanyard, so attendees can wear it for admission all three days of the 36-hole, stroke-play event. The price is $50, or $30 for kamaaina purchasing before Nov. 1.

The regular ticket price for the Champions Clinic and Pro-Am Tournament on Nov. 20 is $10. Competition day tickets Nov. 21 and 22 are $20 per day. To buy tickets, call 800-PGA-GOLF (742-4653) or visit www.PGA.com.
