All strung out

BEAD lovers and those who appreciate wearable art will enjoy "Eclectic Adornment X: All Strung Out," the annual collection of jewelry art exhibited at The Gallery at Ward Centre, through Oct. 27.

The show, dominated by beadwork and woven fiber, runs the gamut from fun jewelry to sculptural art. Charlene Tashima assembles handmade ceramic animal faces with fabric and beads to create whimsical pins.

Alicia Kawano Oh presents two distinct collections. An earthy woven fiber neckpiece, with its stiff strands poking every which way, is art rather than wearable jewelry. In contrast, her collection of metal chokers, crafted from silver hardware, is both innovative and fashion forward.

The Gallery at Ward Centre is located at 1200 Ala Moana Blvd. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Call 597-8034.
