Rain, some heavy, forecast for weekend
Rain and possible thundershowers are in the forecast for the state through the weekend, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flash-flood watch for the state through Sunday morning.
A high-surf advisory was also in effect for south shores until tomorrow afternoon because a series of south swells is bringing waves of up to 8 feet.
Forecasters said the high-pressure system that has been sitting over the islands is moving back to the north, which should mean a return of the tradewinds.
However, unstable weather is lingering over the islands, with the potential for heavy rain through tomorrow night.

Grand jury charges 3 in distribution of 'ice'
A federal grand jury charged three men yesterday with conspiring to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine shipped from California to Hawaii hidden inside car engines.
The three men charged were John Gouveia Jr., Jose Perez and Matthew Hernandez, but according to an indictment filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court, others known and unknown to the grand jury were also involved.
The indictment alleges Perez and another individual traveled from California to Hawaii in February and took possession on March 15 of the car, which had been shipped in February with 14 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in its engine drive shaft.
Perez and another person allegedly delivered the 14 pounds of "ice" to Gouveia, the court document said.
Gouveia then allegedly distributed the methamphetamine and paid Perez more than $200,000.
The indictment alleges another car was shipped in July from California to Hawaii with 14 pounds of meth hidden in the engine drive shaft.
