Macrobiotic cooking

The raw way
Ruth Heidrich, a certified fitness trainer, explains the benefits of raw foods and how to make the transition to such a diet at the October meeting of the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii, 7 p.m. Saturday at McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park.
Heidrich competes in running and triathlon races, and has won more than 900 awards since 1982, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Chef Russell Siu will present a menu of pupus featuring turkey, providing ideas for using your Thanksgiving leftovers.
