Partners purchase Honolulu branch of PricewaterhouseCoopers
The local accounting partnership has been renamed Accuity LLP
Three former partners of the Honolulu branch of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP have acquired the unit and established Accuity LLP in its place.
Managing Partner Kent Tsukamoto, along with fellow partners Dennis Tsuhako and Wendell Lee, opened their doors as Accuity on Monday.
The acquisition price was not disclosed.
Accuity retained all but about four or five of Pricewaterhouse's 85 employees, and plans to retain most of the former company's clients.
PricewaterhouseCoopers has offices in 85 cities throughout the nation, but decided to transfer the Hawaii business to local ownership as part of a strategic decision, Tsukamoto said.
Accuity aims to be a full-service firm providing assurance, tax and management consulting services to public and private clients, he said.
Its services will include traditional auditing and tax compliance, tax planning, as well as specialty services in high technology, personal financial planning, expatriate tax services, and state tax consulting.
Tsukamoto joined the firm in 1978, Tsuhako in 1968 and Lee in 1989.
