A Big 'Naupaka' Night:

Peter-Rockford Tau Espiritu, artistic director of Tau Dance Company, joined cast members Kali'i Stern, Kamakoa Page and Starr Kalahiki as they prepared to meet the audience after the premiere of Espiritu's Hawaiian opera, "Naupaka," at Leeward Community College Oct. 7. Stern starred in the title role of Naupaka, an alii demigod who falls in love with a kaua (slave). Page danced the role of his forbidden love; Kalahiki provided her voice. CLICK FOR LARGE

Kona Brewing Co. "Beer Goddess" Rebecca Villegas, left, joined Mattson Davis, president and CEO of the company, in introducing a new limited-release beer, Pipeline Porter, at the company's Hawaii Kai restaurant Thursday. The new dark brew is made with pure Kona coffee as well as premium malts, barley and hops. Expect it to be available through February. CLICK FOR LARGE
