Minicozzi helps BeachBoys over Sharks
Mark Minicozzi drove in a pair of runs on a home run in the eighth inning and the Waikiki BeachBoys downed the Honolulu Sharks 4-1 last night in the Hawaii Winter Baseball League.
David Quinowski earned the win for the BeachBoys with a scoreless eighth inning.
UH men capture exhibition tourney title
The Hawaii men's volleyball team won the British Columbia Tournament championship last night with a 17-25, 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-12 win over British Columbia last night.
Eric Lima had 14 kills against B.C. Kyle Klinger hit .462.
Fujikawa leads Turtle Bay Amateur
Moanalua's Tad Fujikawa fired a 3-under par 69, and holds a one-shot lead over Travis Toyama after the first round of the fourth annual Turtle Bay Amateur yesterday.
Pierre Henri-Soero and Alex Ching are both two shots behind after shooting 71.
Local girl finishes fourth for the Boxers
Pacific's Kapua Torres (Kahuku) finished fourth yesterday at the Sunset Kids International wrestling tournament at the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Ariz.
Torres won four of six matches in the 51-kilogram bracket and was the only Pacific wrestler to win a match in the tournament.
Seasiders sweep Vulcans in volleyball
The BYU-Hawaii women's volleyball team improved to 16-0 for the season with a 30-26, 30-14, 30-23 sweep of UH-Hilo yesterday in Laie.
Roseanne Vea led four Seasiders in double figures with 14 kills.
Ustyuzhanina takes third place
BYU-Hawaii tennis player Julia Ustyuzhanina took third place in the Wilson/ITA Small College Championships yesterday at Fort Myers, Fla. Ustyuzhanina beat Alexandra Schunk of Lynn 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.

Emily Mearns scored in the 66th minute as the Brigham Young-Hawaii women's soccer team beat Hawaii Pacific 1-0 last night at Laie.
Iacovelli, Burger win for Hawaii Pacific
Hawaii Pacific's Todd Iacovelli and Inga Burger won their races at the Hawaii Pacific cross country meet yesterday in Kaneohe.
Iacovelli won with a time of 29 minutes, 38 seconds while Burger raced around the course in 26:48.
Brigham Young-Hawaii won the men's title while UH-Hilo took the women's title.
