Farrington comes through in second half
It started with an emotional tribute to a fallen player and it ended with Farrington's 32-22 comeback victory over Castle.
The Governors fought back from a 15-7 halftime deficit in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East football game last night.
It left an empty feeling for the Knights, who were all thinking the same thing -- win this homecoming game to honor the memory of Patrick Kapahu, who died less than two weeks ago from injuries suffered in a skateboarding accident.
Castle also tried to win one for Kapahu last week a few days after the tragedy, but didn't get it done against Kahuku.
"Patrick's spirit and memory will be with us the rest of our lives," Knights coach Nelson Maeda said. "We wanted to win it and that's what Pat always wanted. He would want to see us go as far as we can. It was a very physical game and Farrington came out firing in the second half."

It was a bruising, high-octane game all night and both teams proved once again that they'll be far from pushovers when the OIA playoffs begin.
The Govs (6-2, 5-1) scored 25 straight points to open the second half. The Knights (3-5, 3-3) took themselves out of the game with three early second-half turnovers, including two interceptions.
"The second half we did better," Farrington coach Randall Okimoto said. "The kids got fired up. The seniors didn't want to let it go. They didn't have a rhythm in the second half."
When asked what he told his players at halftime, with a smile on his face, Okimoto said, "Nothing I can tell you (the media)."
Hercules Sula led the way with 218 yards rushing and two TDs on 19 carries.
The comeback started early after the break as Farrington quarterback Elijah Filifili capped a 67-yard drive with a 27-yard scoring pass to Maeli Siliga. The two hooked up again for the 2-pointer for a 15-all tie.
Mark Stowers' interception set up the Govs' go-ahead score -- Sula's 27-yard romp.
Farrington added a 26-yard Matt Stowers field goal late in the third quarter before Sula broke away again for a 42-yard TD in the fourth for a hefty 32-15 lead. The Govs then used Sula to keep the chains and the clock moving to end it.
Castle fought back as quarterback Bryson Ukauka hit Damien Spotkaeff with a 5-yard shovel pass for a TD for the final 32-22 count.
"Our four turnovers really hurt," Maeda said. "The first one in the first quarter led to a touchdown and we couldn't move at all in the second half with three quick turnovers."
Right before halftime, Ukauka led an 80-yard drive capped by Andrew Fakatoka's 5-yard up-the-middle run and Ukauka's 2-point run after a Govs penalty.
Ukauka went 6-for-7 on the march that included a key 9-yard fourth-down-conversion pass to Corey Parades to give Castle a 15-7 lead going into the locker room at the half.
Grant Hamilton had two fumble recoveries for Farrington, and Blake Soares had two sacks for Castle.
No. 3 Kahuku 48, Moanalua 14
The Red Raiders scored 33 points before halftime and routed the Menehunes.
Kahuku earned its first scores on runs by Lehi Aumua and Junior Mataafa before the defense put up some points of its own on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Alema Tachibana. Quarterback Richard Torres then showed that the Red Raiders could score through the air with a 60-yard strike to Pelefoni Soliai.
