Applications available for fishing in Nuuanu
Applications are available through Oct. 27 for weekend fishing in Nuuanu Reservoir in November.
Fishing for stocked catfish will begin Nov. 18 and continue on Saturdays and Sundays until January, when all fishers requesting time have had a turn, says a release from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Fishing at the reservoir requires an entry fishing card and a valid freshwater game fishing license.
Entry fishing cards can be picked up at the DLNR's Division of Aquatic Resources, 1151 Punchbowl St. Room 330, and from various licensing agents on Oahu.
Applications will not be mailed out. The deadline for submitting applications is 4 p.m. Oct. 27. A drawing will then be held to assign each cardholder a fishing date and time.
Fishers age 8 or younger are not required to be licensed but must be accompanied by a licensed, supervising adult. All cardholders age 15 or younger must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
Freshwater game fishing licenses may be purchased at licensing agents. Call 587-0100 for current locations.
Hawaii freshwater game fishing licenses are also available online from the Division of Aquatic Resources Web site at www.ehawaii.gov/dlnr/fish/exe/fresh_main_page.cgi.
Each fishing day will be divided into four-hour fishing periods: 7 to 11 a.m., and noon to 4 p.m. Warm clothing and rain gear are recommended.
