FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Seal the deal at Christmas
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Christmas Seals, and the American Lung Association of Hawai'i would like to mark the milestone by finding the Hawaii resident who has the oldest collection of these holiday stamps.
The person who has saved stamps for the most uninterrupted years will be recognized at the lung association's Christmas Seals Gala in December.
This year's seals have been mailed to homes nationwide, accompanied by a request for donations. In Hawaii, proceeds go toward teaching schoolchildren about the dangers of smoking, asthma sports camps, research at the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine and to help patients of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
